The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc. is in the midst of its LOCK UP promotion where they raise funds for MDA by “locking up” business people to raise “bail money” which goes directly to MDA in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Vanessa Fernandez, the fundraising coordinator for MDA in South Florida was on Forum For Non Profits to give some background on the MDA cause and the programs they have to benefit people with Muscular Distrophy and especially to promote the “Lock-Up” fundraiser event on July 24 and also in September of 2013. Jamie Straus of Coastline Marine in Pompano Beach, who is to be “locked-up” to raise money for MDA came to tell his story. It’s a clever and fun way that MDA uses that helps to raise funds.
