We had the pleasure of having Patrice Schroeder, community relations specialist at 211 Palm Beach County. 211 works to provide a team of specially trained staff to assist callers through its 211 HelpLine with crisis intervention, suicide prevention, information, assessment and referral to community services. They also collect and maintain information on community health and human services and makes this information available via its hotlines, helplines, printed directories, and on the web. American Association of Caregiving Youth
This week on the Forum for Nonprofits, we had the pleasure of having Gerry Fallon, communications coordinator at the American Association of Caregiving Youth. The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) is the national resource for children who sacrifice their education, health, well-being and childhood to provide care for family members who are ill, injured, elderly or disabled. AACY combines systems of healthcare, education and community to provide needs-driven services in school, out of school and at home.Their ultimate goal is for no child in the US to drop out of school because of family caregiving responsibilities. Baby Otter Scholarship and Education Fund
This week on the Forum for Nonprofit we had the pleasure of having Marlene Bloom, president and Shirley Harold, partner of Baby Otter Scholarship and Education Fund. The Baby Otter Scholarship and Education Fund is a non-profit organization focused on teaching special needs and underprivileged children. They focus on saving children and adults from drowning by teaching them their proprietary state and nationally certified “Turn Kick Reach,®” a five day private program. 9Muses Art Center
We had the pleasure of having Chris Yoculan, the adult services director at 9Muses Art Center. 9Muses is a program of the Mental Health Association of Southeast Florida designed to provide adults with mental health disorders an opportunity to partake in Fine Arts, Support Groups, and Peer Activities. Participants are able to choose from a broad array of visual and performing arts. Classes and personalized instruction along with individual studio time allow members to create according to his/her own personal “muse” and engage in stimulating activity without regard to labels. They also have Support groups for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, as well as peer specialists available for mentoring and support. I Can Living and Learning Center
We had the pleasure of having Debbie Telsey, vocational program director and Tanija Constantaras, president of I Can Living and Learning Center. I Can Living and Learning Center’s Employment Program provides an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to secure suitable employment. They have employment specialists who help participants learn how to do the following: identify an employment goal, properly complete an employment application, prepare a resume, prepare for an interview, utilize appropriate job search methods and, most importantly, help maintain employment. They provide follow-up services and also post employment services to those with significant disabilities. Kids In Distress
This week on the Forum for Nonprofits, we had the pleasure of having Letty Vendrell, Director of Development of Kids In Distress. Kids In Distress of Broward and Palm Beach counties (KID) is a licensed nationally accredited agency working for the prevention of child abuse, preservation of the family, and the treatment of abused and neglected children. Mental Health Association of PBC
This week on the Forum for Nonprofits we had Pamela Gionfriddo, CEO of the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County. UF 4-H Youth Development Program
This week we had Noelle Guay, extension agent at the UF 4-H Youth Development Program. The UF/IFAS Extension 4-H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach to help youth gain the knowledge and skills they need to be responsible, productive citizens. This mission is accomplished by creating safe and inclusive learning environments, involving caring adults, and utilizing the expertise and resources of the University of Florida and the nationwide land grant university system.
